3 day detox – Day 1
Posted by Hengest on Sunday, July 19th, 2009
Ok so yesterday I started a 3 day detox. Although a detox is a good kick start to any diet. and you will have lost weight at the end of it, that is not the main purpose. It is simply giving your body a chance to expel many of the harmful chemicals which are abundant in our bodies from processed food and the modern environment.
So what do you eat? Well there are various things you can do but the one I am doing involves eating only fruit and raw vegetables. The fruit should be no more than 3 portions a day because of the sugars contained in it but you can eat any amount of raw vegetables along with plenty of water and you can also have fruit tea. No cooked food, no dips or sauces, no nice fat scrummy steak & kidney pies!!
I went to the supermarket with Fran and stocked up on vegetables including spinach leaves, beansprouts, celery, carrots, peppers, broccoli, green beans and mixed leaf salad. I don’t like tomatoes or cucumber so the peppers are about the “juiciest” thing I had.
For fruit I have blueberriesapples, bananas, grapes, plums, nectarines and kiwi. Forgot to get my favourite, mango.
First day was yesterday and shortly after getting up i had to head out to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu so grabbed a bag of beansprouts and just munched on a few of them before and after the class.
In the afternoon I had a bowl of spinach leaves and the later on in the evening I prepared a plate full of various veg but after picking at it for a while I just felt like I was chewing a piece of cardboard and so I threw it all into the juicer with a couple of extra carrots and a nectarine to add a bit of flavour and sweetness.
I think from now on I will just juice the vegetable and take them in liquid form.
That was it for day one.
